Hi kids!
Soooo..... I'm disappointed in myself. Like, really disappointed in myself.
Back in May, I was very excited to announce that I'd lost 20 pounds.
I am now ashamed to say that I've gained 10 pounds back, and haven't been to the gym in almost 6 months.
I have officially fallen off the fitness/healthy lifestyle bandwagon.
I got complacent in weighing 151 pounds again. I started thinking in that dangerous mindset of, "Well I've come this far, eating this one junk food meal won't hurt me". But I've found that for me, once I begin to think that way, it's easy to talk myself into eating another junk food meal, and then another, and so on and so forth.
My workout buddy moved to Georgia, which was a big part of my Fall. BUt she's back now.... And we've both decided to get our asses BACK IN GEAR!
Josh and I are still going to be trying for a baby, but I'm going to be working out while doing so. My main motivation for getting fit was so I could exercise when we do get pregnant again, and here I am back at square one.
*sigh*

Yo dudes! Just thought I would share this. Friend of mine posted this and I thought I would share it :) Of course we should strive to be healthy and as fit as we can be, but I think there's a difference between being healthy and happy with yourself than being really obsessive about your weight.
7 WAYS TO LOVE YOUR BODY THROUGH THICK AND THIN
This is not another diet guide. It will not show you how to lose ten pounds by Thanksgiving. It will not introduce you to a new set of "miracle ab crunches" or rave about the latest liposuction advances. And there will be no butt pads, silicone, or fat-free recipes to share.
I'm writing this because I, like many women, used to diet until I was dizzy. I looked at my body and hated the parts that stuck out, and the ones that didn't stick out far enough. And I believed that having the so-called "perfect" body—at any expense—would guarantee success and eternal happiness.
Do I need to say it? I was deluded.
As women, our relationships with our bodies are dysfunctional at best. With multibillion-dollar diet and cosmetics industries barking at our heels, and even role models like Rosie O'Donnell caving to the "thin-is-in" pressure, loving our bodies is no stroll in the park. It's especially hard when our friends complain about their bodies, and our moms have been on diets since we were in diapers.
But this is a matter of life. When we don't feel comfortable in our bodies—our natural bodies—we deny our spirits everything from dancing to delicious food to lustful abandon. We miss out on all the sensuality and joy that life offers. And we deserve to have it all.
Here are seven ways to fight the pressure, and practice the new art of loving your body, just the way it is.

Much rejoicing for I have just acquired a treadmill. :D
I have to start doing this again, I need some accountability.

8:00PM: Spent pretty much the entire day cleaning...I've been up and moving since about 3:30 this afternoon!

Ok so I didn't gain any weight. I stepped on the scale at the gym, adjusted the little weight things, closed my eyes, took a breath and opened them, and voila. Still 151.
So, this is good. I worked out tonight; I did arms and abs and cardio, and it feel SO GOOD to be back into it. And I am back. My hiatus, as I said, is OVER.

I bought a bathing suit the other day. I hate bathing suits, as most of us do. I found one that doesn't look heinous on me.
The last time I weighed in, I was 151 pounds, putting my total weight loss at 19 pounds thus far. I'm convinced I've gained at least 4 of that back in the last three weeks, as I haven't gotten a good workout in in a while, and I have not been eating well. When I go to the gym tonight with my friend Michelle, I completely expect the scale to read at least 155.
So anyhow, I've been feeling pretty good about my weight loss. I feel pretty comfortable in my skin, etc.
Until I put on that bathing suit, and hit the pool with all the "cute, pretty, skinny" girls. I just have the overwhelming urge to tip them headfirst into the pool when they prance by in their string bikinis. I feel like a whale; like an old granny in my tankini. When I move, I'm super conscious of the way my thighs move. My belly doesn't do that "skin roll" thing when I sit up, it does that "fat roll" thing.
So I realize, I'm still overweight. Despite my 20 pound weight loss, I'm still frigging overweight. I'm 5'3", by the way. 155 is overweight.
Ugh.
Anyway, here's a picture of me in the swimsuit I bought:

And, hi. I'm Theresa.
junepath and
mandibaby made me do it. :D
Currently at 146.5 pounds and 5'5". I'd like to lose about ten pounds, mostly because I have a rather lame knee that does better when I'm lighter.
I've been checking out the newspapers and craigslist lately for a treadmill in my area.
I plan on taking up yoga with a friend here in a few weeks when she gets back from vacation.
I also plan on doing better about drinking water. I've been real slack on it lately.
I like to rock a Slim Fast shake in the morning (powdered mix, please. the canned stuff tastes too... canny) along with a multivitamin (I take prenatals since they have more iron and B-vitamins). I have a decent amount of energy with that combo without feeling hungry for a few hours.
After that, my food intake is usually crap, so I've been trying to get that under control.
Now that I'm back to working part time, I'll have more time to actually go grocery shopping instead of calling for Chinese, so that should help, too.
My boyfriend tends to be mildly allergic to food preservatives, so that's a good motivation to make "real" food more often, too.
Hope you all are doing well!

If the gym isn't for you, you can still get some good exercise without leaving your house. I've gone to gyms before, and loved it. Depends on the gym though, and time of day... for a long time I went in the early afternoon and it was so wonderful. The track to myself, my choice of weight machines, the aerobic/dance room to myself if I wanted to do some stretches...
Speaking of stretches and wanting to do stuff at home :) I found a link to some really easy yoga stretches you can do in about 10-15 minutes here. There are even some you can do at your desk!.
There's also the Sun Salutation, which is a great way to start the day. Getting up a few minutes early is definitely worth it. Of course you can do this any time of the day, but it feels pretty good in the morning :)
Anyway, I can't stress enough the importance of stretching before and after any physical activity. Even if all you do in the morning is a few stretches, you'll increase your flexibility and get your blood flowing. The more flexible you feel, the easier aerobic activity will be, and you will also decrease the chance of injury. Walk for a few minutes to warm your muscles up, then stop and stretch for about 15 minutes. It sounds like a long time but for your muscles to fully stretch and be ready they need that time. Be good to your body and respect its limitations.

- Mood:
optimistic
so uh here's what I've been eating today:
1 Special K Breakfast Bar - 90 calories
1 cup of coffee (+ cream and sweetener) - 85
1 peanut butter and banana and jelly sandwich (on whole wheat!) - 360
a whopping 535 so far.
here's what I plan on eating the rest of the day:
1 c. lowfat vanilla yogurt & fresh berries - 180
5 oz. lean steak - 350
8 oz. milk - 121
1 c. (raw) baby carrots - 35
for an approximate total of 1221. Not too bad, probably less because I over-estimate and don't finish all my food usually. I definitely didn't finish that whole sandwich, had a corner left. Also, by the end of the afternoon I will have consumed about 1.5 liters of water (or so the bottle I'm drinking from says). Because of my, ahem, yeast condition I have to add a dietary supplement to my water, but I don't think it adds any calories.. just boosts the oxygen... at any rate, I usually have more energy from drinking it and supposedly it helps nutrients get absorbed into my body. So that's cool I guess.
I worry that my diet isn't balanced enough, which is something I'm trying to work on... I like raw fruits and veggies as opposed to cooked because cooking them destroys their nutritional value and you don't get the fiber and vitamins that you need. Ugh, cooked carrots are disgusting... all mushy and gross...
it doesn't look like I'm eating much but my stomach can only hold a little bit at a time. I find it difficult to sit down and have a "meal" so I just eat one or two things at a time throughout the day. Seems to work for me and it keeps my metabolism going so I burn more energy.
